Armenian-French music group Ladaniva has been officially announced as Armenia’s representative for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. Formed by Armenian vocalist Jaklin Baghdasaryan and French multi-instrumentalist Louis Thomas, Ladaniva has captured international attention with their distinctive blend of world music influences. The duo will perform “Jako,” a song known for its joyful rhythms and empowering message that challenges stereotypes and celebrates individuality, especially for women. The lyrics, co-written by Baghdasaryan, explore themes of cultural heritage and self-acceptance .
“Jako” has already garnered widespread interest, surpassing 3 million views on Eurovision’s official YouTube channel shortly after its release. The song aligns with Eurovision’s 2024 theme, “United by Music,” by weaving together Armenian traditional elements with global influences. According to David Tserunyan, Armenia’s head of delegation, Ladaniva’s stage performance, directed by Artur Manukyan, will showcase vibrant cultural expressions and aims to replicate the energy of a live concert .
Since their debut in 2019, Ladaniva has earned acclaim through tracks like “Vay Aman” and “Kef Chilini.” They were recognized with the 2022 Music Moves Europe Award for Public Choice, marking their growing prominence on the European music scene .
